Kongsgaard Skole Senter (KSS)

Kristiansand - Norway

KSS was organized in it’s present form in 2001, when several departments joined together at our present location.

We now consist of 5 different departments:

  • Department of NOSOL (Norwegian for speakers of other languages). We teach Norwegian at all levels from illiterates, beginners and up to the University Entrance Exam
  • Departments for Special Needs Education. Provides education to people with special needs.
  • Practical Norwegian ( Students learn Norwegian at a workplace)
  • Department for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired. The department serves all the deaf and hearing impaired in Kristiansand from kindergarten up to adult education
  • Department for Primary School Exams. Our students are in average about 18 years old. (From 16- 25). The aim is to give them a Norwegian Primary School exam that will enable them to apply for, and enter the Secondary School System in Norway. We concentrate on the main subjects of Norwegian, math, English, Natural and Social Science and History. We also provide P.E. (Physical Education) for the students. Common for our students is that they don’t have proper education, social skills and skills in communication to enable them to enter the Norwegian education system and labor marked.

KVO is funded by the local School Authorities and the National Ministry of Education.
We have established a website, unfortunately only in Norwegian. An English link will come soon.
